一、赵世瑜《历史人类学：在学科与非学科之间》历史人类学：在学科与非学科之间北京师范大学历史系赵世瑜“理论与方法：历史学与社会科学的关系及其他”笔谈（9）《历史研究》2004年第4期近年来，历史学与人类学的联手逐渐取得较大影响，这种联手似乎因为有“历史人类学”这个国际上已经认可的冠名（无论是在人类学界还是在历史学界）而迅速变得名正言顺。

同时，这种冠以历史人类学之名的学科合作，产生了除理论之外的一些重要的具体研究成果，在这方面，按我个人的看法，其目前的实践效果要好于其他类似的新交叉学科，如计量史学、心理史学、历史社会学等。但是对历史人类学究竟做何理解、历史人类学是人类学还是历史学的分支等等，学者间还有不同意见。

人类学家张小军批评历史人类学的“学科性”误解，又称历史人类学是被史学“抢注”的；历史学家符太浩明确指出，历史人类学“只能是文化人类学的分支，而决不是史学的分支”。在两部书名中出现历史人类学字眼的著作中，人类学家王铭铭认为：“为了克服功能主义对历史的漠视，显然要求新一代的社会人类学者在他们的民族志文本中重新提出处理历史与他们的研究主题一一文化一一之间关系的方案”，为了这个目标而进行的探讨，即“人类学的历史化”，即历史人类学。

他把历史人类学定义为一种“学术风格”，其特点在于“在人类学的跨文化视野中强调学者对于多种线路的历史的跨越”；历史学家张佩国则声称：“运用社会人类学方法整合经济史、社会史、法制史、文化史等学科领域的学术资源……这就是我所提倡并付诸实践的历史人类学方法……历史人类学不是单向度的学科，而是一种开放性的方法论体系”。①除了明确表示历史人类学是人类学内部自我反思之结果的观点外，其他人大都小心谨慎地避免把历史人类学收于某一学科的麾下，尽管如此，他们似乎还是认为历史人类学的方法和问题意识应该是人类学的。

在这种情况下，不同学科的学者在使用这个概念的时候，大多是为了解决本学科内部的问题。在法国年鉴学派史学家勒高夫看来，史学应“优先与人类学对话”，并认为应使历史学、人类学和社会学相互结合，并用“历史人类学”这个名称来概括它。

①而比尔吉埃尔则更为全面地讨论了对历史人类学的认识，他认为：“历史人类学并不具有特殊的领域，它相当于一种研究方式，这就是始终将作为考察对象的演进和对这种演进的反应联系起来，和由这种演进产生或改变的人类行为联系起来”。“历史人类学也许主要是与史学研究的某一时期相一致，而不是与它的一个领域相适应”（这个表述与我个人关于社会史概念的表述极为相似）。

他认为法国史学家在这方面的研究成果，体现在研究饮食史、体质体格史、性行为史、家庭史等领域，本质上是要通过研究各种习惯来了解各种权力关系。“今天历史人类学正是在研究心态世界中继续进行着最卓有成效的研究”。

②由此可以看出，历史学家倡导的历史人类学主要是借用人类学的关注视角和方法来改造历史学，来发现史学的一些新问题。人类学家则主要是希冀以此作为探讨过去的手段。

人类学家提出历史人类学这个概念，是以批判用共时性和结构性概念统治人类学的做法为起点的，其中代表性的人物便是伊万斯.普利查德（Evans Pritchard），他在20世纪50—60年代的著作可以作为历史人类学的先驱。直至此后的70一80年代，“历史人类学的研究风行一时，以至它们无疑已经建立了民族志报告的一种方式”。

按照这些人类学家的看法，历史人类学中有两大类别，一是历史民族志，即利用档案资料和当地的口述史资料，研究过去如何导致现在，或进行对过去的历时性和共时性研究；二是所谓对历史的人类学研究（anthropology of history），即集中注意特定族群“藉以拟想、创造和再造他的过去，以至把过去和他们身处的现在联接在一起的各种方法和文化理路”，其中既研究过去的建构如何用来解释现在，也研究过去是如何在现在被创造出来的。“这样的人类学几乎没有制造‘客观’历史的企图，相反地，它感兴趣的是人们对过去知道和记得些什么，如何记得，又为什么要记得，以及人们如何解释过去并和现在联接在。
